Sally Shortcake was established in 2013 when we opened our teashop in Wath upon Dearne.
Sally Shortcake - Teashop bakes and sells delicious, homemade cakes as well as selling freshly ground coffee, snacks and a range of highly praised afternoon teas.
Sally, the owner and founder, has had a long history and experience of baking and catering.
Following her passion for baking and cooking, she trained as a chef and completed a Professional Cookery NVQ in 2007. After working as a commis chef in the Yorkshire Dales for several years, Sally joined an outside catering company, Food for Thought, and gained a wealth of experience in all aspects of food service.
With Food for Thought Sally catered for weddings, dinner parties and shoot lunches. Doing both the prep, the cooking and the serving with the team. 'It was one of my most enjoyable times in catering. I learnt a great deal about preparing for and feeding large groups and had a lot of fun doing it'.
' Her passion and strong work ethic led Sally to be an integral part of the team and in 2011 she took a key role in running the tea rooms at Bolton Castle for the company along with heading up dinner parties and wedding functions.
Running the tearooms gave Sally the desire and tools to set up Sally Shortcake - Teashop when she moved back home to Wath upon Dearne..
How Sally learnt to bake is simple: she was taught to by her Grandma, Ethel, her Nanny, Nancy, and her mum, Shirley. She spent many an afternoon making cakes and tarts and hours baking different kind of cookies for the local cricket team teas.
A culmination of a love of baking and ten years experience in the food service industry has led to Sally Shortcake as it is today. Rated five stars on Trip advisor, Google and Facebook, Sally has developed an excellent reputation for quality baking, delicious food and fantastic service.
